The ACMPE Profession

by Fred Vance, FACMPE

What is required to define a profession?

Logic suggests it's a journey of exploration and examination that is an ongoing process with remarkable challenges.

The truths of our profession, called the body of knowledge for medical practice management, are documented performance levels of competency and responsibility.
ACMPE (American College of Medical Practice Executives) and MGMA (Medical Group Management Association) has brought together this body of knowledge. The College is the standard-setting and certification body of MGMA.

Members of ACMPE and MGMA have a wide range of resources available to medical practice managers dealing with medical group practice issues.

These resources offer assistance and insight in areas of group management.
Not only has the ACMPE brought the body of knowledge forward to our profession, but it brings a pathway to professional development and advancement.

From Nominee to Certified Member to Fellow, ACMPE has a certification program that yields respected credentials in our industry.

The body of knowledge for medical practice executives encourages ACMPE professionals to:

  • Advance their personal knowledge base and leadership skills
  • Maintain psychological and physical well-being
  • Promote individual and organizational integrity
  • Seek an objective understanding of one's perspective and behavior
  • Contribute to the advancement of medical practice management
  • Respond to the needs of others

If you are not a member of ACMPE or MGMA, join us and begin your quest for professional excellence, self-improvement, advancement and recognition.
