Effective March 1, 2008 Blue Cross Blue
Shield of Kansas
will no longer be our Medicare carrier. Wisconsin
Physician Services (WPS) will assume responsibility for
Medicare Part A and Part B services in Jurisdiction 5 which
includes
Kansas,
Nebraska,
Iowa,
and
Western Missouri.
In an effort to
provide transition information and to answer provider
questions, representatives from KMS and several medical
management organizations have formed a workgroup to collect
and disseminate information.
The goal of
the workgroup is to facilitate communication between WPS and
Kansas
providers by compiling the answers to provider questions and
posting them on the Kansas Medical Group Management
Association web site.
In addition, links to these questions
will be posted at the web sites of the Greater Kansas City
Medical Managers Association, KMS and the AAPC Kansas City
Chapter.
Providers may
contact the workgroup members with questions related to the
WPS transition.
The workgroup in turn will
contact a senior analyst at WPS for an answer.
The answers will be posted to
the web site and updated
regularly.
Providers are encouraged to
check the web site
frequently.

workgroup members with questions about the transition:
